<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0;"><span><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:Times New Roman;">seperti adanya kasus keracunan sari buah di Surabaya (Mei 2004), kasus keracunan sebagian besar karyawan sebuah Televisi Swasta di Jakarta setelah mengkonsumsi katering perusahaan, kasus keracunan susu pada siswa-siswa SD, dsb.</span></span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0;"><span><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:Times New Roman;">Penyebab keracunan makanan terbesar di Indonesia berasal dari sektor catering. Hal ini tentu saja disebabkan karena tidak adanya Bagian Quality Control dan rendahnya pengetahuan cara mengolah makanan &amp; minuman secara aman, serta kurangnya kontrol terhadap kebersihan para pekerja catering.</span></span></span></p>

Peningkatan kasus keracunan makanan akibat bahaya biologi dalam beberapa tahun terakhir timbulnya cukup banyak varian dari mikroba, bakteri dan virus, seperti E.Coli 0157, E.Coli 0111, Salmonella Enteritidis, Norwalk viruses, dll. Sedangkan untuk bahaya kimiawi juga mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan karena adanya peningkatan teknologi dan teknik analitik.</span></span></span></p>
